Special Church Guest

This past Sunday Crestview had a very special church guest. It was a puppy (or very small dog). When Justin and I arrived at church we saw this tiny dog walking in the parking lot. When the pastor’s granddaughter arrived she just had to catch the dog and help it. Not wanting her to go outside and get hurt I followed her in the church. We finally found the dog sitting at one of the doors shivering. Against my better judgement I listened to the girl’s pleas and picked the dog up (luckily it wasn’t too dirty). She went and got her mom who is a nurse and the poor dog was all bones and cold and scared. They fed it a donut for lack of anything else to feed it. It ate that thing like there was no tomorrow. Then another church member saw it and went home for some dog food. Another member got a towel from her car to wrap it in. Many others gathered as well trying to figure out what to do to help the poor dog. I ended up holding the dog through Sunday School while they awaited someone to call to possibly take the dog. Finally the dog calmed down during Sunday School and fell asleep in my lap. Then I had to turn her over to another member so I could scrub up and take my jacket off and help in the nursery. By the time I was done someone had taken it home with them. I was so happy that the dog would no longer be out in the cold.

Since I was in the nursery I wasn’t able to attend the service but Justin said that Pastor Stan used the dog as an example for the kids during Children’s time explaining to them that, as we, the church worked together to help the dog, God wants us all to work together as a team to help others. I thought it was a really awesome day at church and a really good lesson learned.
