HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELISSA!!!

I would like to wish Melissa Houghton a very happy birthday today! Sorry you have to work on your bday.

***I also apologize to all those that I have missed birthday wishes for. It’s been awhile since I’ve seriously blogged.

Fun Event

I’m excited that tomorrow Justin and I are riding up with some of our church people to Boone to go skiing. No, I will not be skiing but you might be able to catch Justin falling…I mean skiing down the mountain a time or two. I’m going along to watch and relax and maybe read some more of a book I’ve been waiting to be able to read. Then in the evening we will be meeting up with Erin, Mike, and Walker to spend the night. I’m excited. It’s been since Christmas that we’ve seen each other. Then hopefully next weekend we can go see my parents and Kelly. I have a TON of class work and studying to do but I’m trying not to let it get in the way of the most important things to me.

Also, lift some prayers up for me for March 9th. I take the dreaded GMAT and haven’t had (and will not have) time to devote to studying for it.

It’s been a long time

Sorry guys, I tend to blog in waves. A lot has been going on here lately. I just got done with book rush which wasn’t fun (don’t get me started). I have started my second semester in the MBA program at GWU. This semester I’m taking on the hardest class I believe I’ll have to take (Finance). I believe there’s a reason it’s an F word. So far it’s going ok, I’m taking it in class on Thursday nights from 6-9 (not fun after a long day at work). Luckily my friend Cary is taking it with me so she is helping me through. We decided to take the harder classes first to get them out of the way. I hope that plan works. Justin’s granny was in the hospital a little bit ago. Now she is home and they’ve redone the house to allow her to use her wheelchair. She is one tough cookie and we love her so much!

Now, if you’ve read Justin’s blog entry, then you know that he is in Kentucky this week. He was supposed to come home today originally but had to postpone his arrival until tomorrow due to some work issues. I’m glad now that he had to wait because of this weather. I heard on the news that a lot of the flights today were delayed or canceled. Hopefully he will have better luck tomorrow. I’m so excited. This is the longest we’ve been apart. I can’t wait to hug him and squeeze him and kiss him hehe. I’ll try not to make a big scene hehe.

I love you honey! Be careful tomorrow. I’ll be waiting for you…if I don’t get lost hehe.

Special Visit

This week we had a very special house guest. I wouldn’t call him a guest really, but family. Matt came to visit us for a few days. It has been so fun. I wish Megan could have come but maybe she will get to come for a visit soon (hint hint hehe). It was so nice for Justin to have another guy around for a change and for all of us to have fun and joke around. Thanks for coming Matt! 🙂

On another note, I would like to wish Stacey and David belated birthday wishes. I have been quite slack on my posts. Stacey’s 21st Birthday was on the 23rd and David’s was on the 27th. I love you guys!

Belated Birthdays

Somehow I managed to get myself crazy busy and have forgotten to wish some birthdays on here. November 8th was my mom’s birthday and November 18th was Java’s birthday. Happy belated Birthday!!!

Revival

I’m going to take just a moment to plug an advertisement here. Starting this Sunday evening at 6pm, we will have a three day revival at church featuring Clayton King. He is an awesome evangelist speaker. Some of you have heard his preaching before via tape. I am so excited. The revival goes through Tuesday night (Monday and Tuesday night at 7pm) Nursery is even provided. If you are in the neighborhood stop on by. It’s going to be an awesome time of worship. I have nursery duty on Monday but hopefully Justin will be recording the services.

Wow…Just Wow

I cannot even begin to describe to you about last night’s Commissioning Service for our Moscow Mission Team. Especially in times like that, I can’t fathom how someone cannot believe in God. Our team met at 3:30pm at the church to pack our supplies. We each are allowed two bags to check. One bag is for our clothes and personal supplies, the other is for supplies we are bringing to Moscow. We knew we had a weight limit of 50 pounds per bag and a lot of supplies to go in each. God answered our prayers to make sure everything fit. Almost each bag weighed 49.6 pounds.

A little while ago we were worried we would not have enough money to pay for our lodging while there. God answered another prayer by providing the money through two (a couple) of His faithful servants that graciously gave us the exact amount we needed.

Last night we had over 150 people attend the service. I haven’t truly worshipped like that in quite awhile. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place. We each were asked to have a prayer partner for our trip. Last night they surprised us and each came to the front and said a few words about us along with scripture and then prayed for us in front of the whole church. Our youngest team member was the first to go. Her stepdad got up to speak (her prayer partner was her grandmother but she lives in Michigan and couldn’t make it). The first thing that got me going was that he said, “Natalie is my daughter” (not stepdaughter but daughter). It was so touching and sweet. My prayer partner is a lady named June Crotts from our church. I can’t tell you how much she has meant to me. I can really feel her prayers. We have even gotten together to pray and I can’t even describe the feelings I get. I really do believe that through her prayers as well as many others that I am now totally well. I was worried for awhile that I wouldn’t get better in time.

We’ve had people tell us they will pray for us at different times of the day. Justin’s Grandparents are going to pray for us so that at 7am Russian time we can wake up knowing we’ve been prayed for to start a new day. I told Justin last night that although we still have TONS to do before we leave on Thursday, there is no way that we should worry or stress one bit because God has already showed us so much and I know He will take care of us.

While we are away, I’m not sure yet how Lori (missionary) will keep things updated for everyone here but if you are interested you can keep a check at their blog site http://stameys.blogspot.com/

Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts and love. I can’t wait to go and serve the Lord. God always shows me so much and even though I think it’s me that is going to serve, I am often the one that gets the serving. God is so good!

Thank you to all that came to the service. You mean so much to us.

And one last thing that has been a huge answer to prayer…Justin’s cousin Chad, and wife Faith have been waiting to adopt a child for quite some time now. We added them to our prayer list at church when they found out that they could possibly be getting a child within 48 hours. They found out they were not selected which was heartbreaking for everyone. When our Pastor asked Justin if they should keep them on the list he said yes and not long after that we have found out that they are going to get a baby boy in about 10 days!!!! Praise God! They may not have gotten the first child that they were waiting for but God had a plan and He knew this new baby was coming that needs Chad and Faith to be his parents.

Trip Approaching

As many of you know, our church mission trip to Moscow, Russia is soon approaching. We have less than a week until we will be on an airplane. This is our last weekend to prepare for the trip. Our Commissioning service is this Sunday night at 6pm. If any of you are in the area you are more than welcome to come. I know the choir will be singing some really inspirational songs and there may be a slide show of pictures from Moscow as well.

I have finally finished my school work so that I can now focus on packing for the trip and doing many loads of laundry. Thank you all so much for your continued prayers. We certainly appreciate them. Please continue to pray that we will have a safe trip and that we will be able to serve the Lord to the best of our abilities while in Moscow. Also, that God will watch over our families and loved ones while away.

Have a great weekend!
