Lunch

Today my mom and Kelly have the day off for Fall break and they are coming to Boiling Springs to eat lunch with Justin and I. I’m excited that I can take the afternoon off and just spend it with them. I haven’t seen them in awhile and they’ve never been to Italian Garden so I think that’s where we will go.

Does anyone know anything about what’s going to replace Uptown Cafe in BS? Krispy Kreme maybe? hehe

I wish I could open up a chain of that or better yet Dunkin Donuts right by the hotel. That would be a real hit. Oh well….I’ll keep dreamin haha. Happy Weekend everyone!

new one…

Yesterday when I got home from work I was getting Java to let her go out and noticed she wasn’t wearing her collar. I looked in her crate and all I saw was the plastic clasp and the leash ring. Yes…Java ate her collar! I was worried like any dog mom would be but she has been acting like normal and eating, drinking, and even pooping. We have yet to see anything red come out but hope this afternoon it will all be better. I called the vet this morning and he said “not another foreign body in your pet.” He remembers us well from when Pixel had to have his surgery to remove some plastic from his intestines. Let’s hope that Java can pass the fabric and won’t have to have surgery. Mom and Dad’s wallet isn’t that big.

Charleston Bound

This morning I am at the Bookstore (yes, on a Saturday). It is graduation day so we have to be open from 8-2pm. I’m trying to get all the last minute things done before I leave so that these guys here won’t be too confused while I’m gone. Justin, his parents, and I are heading to Charleston tomorrow morning. After I leave here today I’m packing and Justin and I will drop off Java at my parents and then head back to Polk County for the night. We will be back mostlikely on Tuesday. A short trip but still lots of fun and I definitely need a break. I’ve been feeling the hint of a cold coming on lately and I hope it will hold off til we get back.

Erin and Mike are well on their way to being parents. Erin is starting her 37th week of pregnancy. We are all hoping she won’t get any ideas this weekend while we are away. But if she does we will find our way there for sure! Please continue to keep them in your prayers for this is the scary part….the realization that it is really going to happen. I know Justin and I can’t wait to be an aunt and uncle.

See ya later!

Oh, and for now my comments are down…too much spam! Hopefully my dear husband will have it back up and running soon.

Teamkid

Hey guys, I thought I’d update you on Teamkid last night at church. Heather came to help. The kids were great. I’d only ever watched the 3,4,5s and they are crazy wild. These kids were anxious to learn and just at that stage where they can read and sit still. I had to teach them about death. That was interesting. I had the kids read Psalm 23:4 that I had typed on a piece of paper and they passed it down and read it out loud. Then we talked about family, friends, and pets that had died. Then I read to them about how a Christian will get 3 new things in heaven (new body, new home, new life). I didn’t think they were listening too well to that part but at the end Heather asked them what the three things were and they got all three. Then I read to them how Heaven will have streets of gold and will have jewels and pearls. I asked them to draw a picture of what they thought Heaven would look like. They did great! One boy drew clouds with cherries in them. Another girl drew gold streets with stop signs. They each had such great ideas. Then at the very end I had 12 balloons each with a message in side. Since there were 6 kids they each got two and had to play “keep it up”. Then as their parents came they got to pop them and read the messages about Heaven (such as In heaven…we will see Jesus). They loved it and the parents did too.

Let’s see…

A lot has happened this past week and sadly I can’t remember it all. I’ve been placing the 2.5 inch thick stack of book orders starting on Friday and just called in the last one today (I still have a few on hold orders that are giving me difficulty). I’ve been rearranging the shelves from Summer to Fall tags and placing the books we already have on hand in the right spots. My returns pile has become overwhelming. I had to order the used books from Follett first at the beginning of last week before I could order the new. It isn’t looking as promising. Last semester Maxine did the used books but this time I did it. I hope everything works out right. It really is a time consuming process. Much more so than you would think. The dear Grad School of Business has STILL not turned in their orders…not even one class! The orders were due at the end of March and it’s mid July. Of course all I can do is email them to death. I just wish I could find someone with power and balls to help me out. These Grad Business students are the hardest students to please and they most of all want used books and because of the late timing of the order (or lack there of) they are pretty much not going to have used books. That means all students will blame us instead of the rightful owner of the blame, the professors and administration of the Business school. Am I shocked? No, I got my degree from these same professors and admin and let’s just say they don’t have all their silverware in the same drawer.

This past Friday Justin was mowing the lawn and I was weeding. After we finished we saw our neighbors outside. They invited us over to their porch benches for some tea and to chat. We ended up staying out there talking until after 10pm. Poor Java was in the house the whole time alone and surprisingly didn’t damage anything (she must have fallen asleep). It was really cool to get to know them better. Java likes them too. Everytime she sees the guy (Roy) she has to run and say hello. As for the other neighbors on the other side of the house. We think they are moving out. It would be cool to have some nice neighbors on that side too. The ones now only come one day a week or so to mow the lawn and then leave. We’ve never met them.

Erin is doing great! She is in her 33rd week I believe and they have started birthing classes. I’m getting more and more excited everyday. Both baby and mom are still very active. I hope to talk to her soon and found out more updates.

I’m suddenly really sleepy and my brain can’t think of anything else although I’m sure there’s plenty more to update on. Hopefully I’ll have more time soon to update more. Wish me luck for books are starting to come in and Friday looks like “D day” for most of the big orders. It’s looking more and more like I’ll be the only one there to unload the trucks.

Oh and it looks like the Moore and Bailey clan from Polk County are either at the beach or just got there today. I hope they have a great time and enjoy the beach weather for me.

Have a great night/day!

VBS Finale

Yes folks, tonight is the final night of this year’s VBS!!! We have almost made it through our Ramblin’ Road trip. I haven’t done dishes in a week (and you know Justin hasn’t hehe), my car is a mess and filled with VBS props, and I haven’t even had time to see much of Justin this week either.

Last night’s lesson went well. The kids were starting to get tired for the week. We had some rowdy ones but nothing too hard to handle. We “went” to Yellowstone National Park last night. Thanks to my mom and Kelly I was able to bring in some pictures and stuffed animals to show the kids. The second session I had to seriously shorten the Bible story about Jesus washing the disciples’ feet and then I called them one by one and “washed” their feet. They were pretty good while I did it because they wanted to be the next one I called. Then we talked about being helpful. I took them two at a time and blind folded one. Then I spun him/her around and then had the other help guide them around some chairs. They all seemed to love it and learned about helping one another. It also made them quiet for when parents came to pick them up haha. I’m just glad that tonight I don’t have to teach and I just get to help tame the children haha. Tonight we are going to Knoxberry Farm.

Everyone have a great night and I’m sorry for all those I haven’t been able to call, see, or speak to lately. I miss you guys!

Updates

Boy, I’ve really been a slacker. You have to stop letting me get away with not blogging often.

Let’s see…

The last weekend in April my whole family got together (except dad) at our house for a cookout to celebrate Kelly’s upcoming Bday (May 2nd). It was so nice to have everyone in one spot. Justin grilled for us and mmmmm. It rained earlier in the day but stopped in time for the cookout. Java was a good girl too. Erin brought her ultrasound tape and we got to see lil Walker in action. I even got to feel him kick. He’s gonna be a soccer player! 😉

This past weekend my family, including dad (but not Justin) went to Erin and Mike’s neck of the woods for a baby shower. It was a lot of fun and we got to see the nursery (Erin did a GREAT job!). It was good to get to visit her for a little while.

Now this weekend I have Relay for Life and I have to work graduation here at GWU from 8am-2pm on Saturday. It will be a busy weekend. This summer is filling up fast.

I guess that’s all for now. Have a great day!
