Work

Renovations

This week at work we have been preparing for some new renovations. On Thursday (tomorrow) we will be getting new office furniture and cubicles. I am very excited to have some real furniture like the many other offices around here. Hopefully our backroom will look more like offices instead of a warehouse. Today we are emptying everything from our desks and work areas except our computers and tomorrow morning we will be computerless probably until next week. So be careful if you email me at school because I may not get it until Monday. Friday I am taking the day off here to go to Kelly’s daycare to help her for the afternoon so my parents can go to a luncheon. Hopefully the new kids won’t be scared of me. It will be fun to spend the day with Kelly. Have a great afternoon everyone!

GWU email

Oh, and if anyone has tried to send me an email at my gwu address today, chances are I haven’t gotten it. GWU has gone to a new email system and my email was totally screwed up all day. They have supposedly fixed it now but I still haven’t gotten any emails that I know I should have had this morning.

bummed

Ok so it didn’t snow once again! I am totally bummed that I have to be here at work. It is such a slow, rainy, nasty day! Today is “University Fellows” day where prospective students come and interview for scholarships. Of course this means that Bonnie has to part beyond Egypt in the rain. It’s always fun to drive around for 15 minutes trying to find a parking spot.

I have caught up on all my ordering to date and work and now I’m just sitting and waiting for something to help me pass the time until lunch and then until I can go home. It’s the perfect day to be lazy in bed. Oh well, maybe it will snow next year or maybe this Summer since it decided to be warm throughout winter so far hehe.

On a lighter note, I’ve gotten the wedding pics off the CDs and onto our computer at home. Now all I have to do is get Justin to put them on his site hehe. We are closer than we were before though so maybe before our one year anniversary you will see some pics hehe. We also have some new pics of our babies (Apache, Pixel, and Java).

I’m gonna go twiddle my thumbs some more. Have a great wet day!

almost there…

Today is my “Friday” and I so can’t wait to get home. We have a mission trip meeting tonight at 6 but it shouldn’t be too long and there will be dinner too hehe. Then I’m off to the house to start laundry and whatever else I’ve been neglecting. Tomorrow will be a busy day with getting the oil changed on the car and more laundry and packing and cleaning. I always hate to leave the boys but I’m so happy and excited to see both mine and Justin’s families for the holidays. I’m ready for some turkey hehe. My sister Erin is bringing two of her dogs with her that I haven’t gotten a chance to meet yet. Hopefully they will let us sleep. Now if I could just make it through the rest of the work day.

a whole new POS system

Lately we’ve been working hard in the Bookstore. We are finally joining the rest of the world with some technology. This week we received a new POS system and now instead of pricing and depricing books and ringin them up manually, we don’t have to price them and can SCAN them at the register! I’m so excited and I know my right hand is too especially knowing I won’t have to write anymore vouchers!!! well…that is if IS can get their acts together and get things working. This means not so long lines, two registers that are fully functional to process credit cards, department charges, cash, checks, gift cards, and vouchers. Now if only the books would bag themselves haha. So, as you can see I’ve been busy with training for the POS system. It is soooooo user friendly. A bit too user friendly. I hope it will be a smooth transition. Also we’ve already received about 80% of our books for the Spring semester. They are all currently checked in and shelved. Just a little reorganizing is necessary.

People never cease to amaze me in their ignorance. Every semester I try my hardest to find new more obvious ways to keep people out of the book section. People just can’t help but get so excited about Spring books so early. They just can’t stay out. We can have hundreds of unpacked boxes everywhere and they will climb over them just to see if their book is here. They will even ask if we can find it for them in the boxes. This semester I got a bright orange posterboard and Erica wrote “DO NOT ENTER Books not available til Dec 1st”….what do you know…they walk right past it. We’ve even tried police tape, packing tape, boxes blocking the aisle ways, chairs, everything and they climb right through it. I just wish I could get an electric fence. That would be fun to watch haha.

Yesterday we were closed all day except from 12-1:30. Right on the outside of the door was a big sign that was at eye level telling the customers that. At 11:30 a woman just walked right in and was so confused when we told her we were closed. The door was closed and the sign was up. Crazy crazy people I tell you! Well…at least I felt smarter by the end of the day 😉 haha.

Everyone have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Basically anything…

Ok, so it’s Friday afternoon and I’m at work. The septic man is outside the Bookstore pumping the literal loads and loads from the septic tank. It does not smell good. I’ve already eaten 3 cupcakes today and I am anxiously awaiting 4:30pm when I can finally leave for the weekend. I don’t know what is up lately. I mean, I don’t dislike overcast/foggy days but I think that having them continually really does take a toll at least on me. I’ve been eating like I haven’t eaten something in a year. I’ve been ready for bed by 8pm each night. I DON’T want to get up in the mornings. I basically haven’t been motivated to do anything. At work this past week I was supposed to take Monday and maybe Tuesday to estimate Spring book sales before ordering. I managed to stretch it out all the way until today. That is so not like me. I’m usually right on things. I’m assigned them and I don’t stop until I’m finished. Oh well, all in all it hasn’t been a bad week, just a week for slack. I know I’ll make up for it in the weeks to come when the new books arrive and when I have to order them. I’m excited though…we no longer have to price the books. Our new POS which will be installed on the 8th will allow us to scan EVERYTHING!!!

On another topic….Lunsford got me reading the Winston-Salem news online. When she was my room mate she always read it and it has a “weird news” section on it that is most of the time entertaining. Today I read about some 16 year old twins that both made a 1600 on the SAT. I’m interested in hearing what your opinion is on that one…Justin said in his blog that he was turning off my comments for a few days but don’t give up on me, I still want to hear and who knows maybe he will still get them and share them with me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! and please…no phone calls before 10! 😉 This weekend is Homecoming and my first game at the new GWU stadium…if it doesn’t rain.

update

it has been a day already haha! just a few minutes ago i had to go out and try to get a car moved so an 18 wheeler could back in to deliver us some shelving. once i finished that i saw the yellow truck coming too to deliver books. i heard a boom and looked up and a huge branch from the tree between the library and dcc fell on the truck, right between the cab and the trailer. it was so big and heavy they had to have chainsaws cut it up before he could go anywhere. what a morning haha!
