I was reading through my daily readings and happened upon this link. Apparently eating an apple a day can be beneficial to our health and can help decrease memory loss in the future. So….how do you like them apples? hehe
Yay!
Today is our last late night here at the Campus Shop. I’m only 15 minutes away from freedom. Tomorrow should be a nice short day getting to leave around 5. I’m so glad tomorrow is Friday. I’m exhausted. I have forgotten what my house and husband look like. If anyone calls tomorrow and fusses about us not being open til 8, I will tell them they’ve had over 112 hours to get their books in the past two weeks and to get over it hehe.
Justin’s mom had surgery yesterday. I was able to get off work early and ride with Justin to do see her in Rutherfordton. She seemed to be doing as well as possible when we left last night. Justin has gone to see her tonight but I couldn’t get out of work. I hope she is up and feeling much better soon.
Go Matt!
Congratulations Matt! Sorry it took me so long to put a photo online but well….husbands 😉
Ok so apparently I haven’t learned the new wordpress way of adding this picture but I’ll get help and have it on there soon…”JUUUUSSSTTTIINNNNNNN”
Go Panthers!
I must say that yesterday was action packed with the colts/steelers game and the panthers/bears game. Then after that was 24 and you know I watched that. I had picked the Steelers to win the first game. They were just on fire. I got a little nervous there at the end but they pulled through. The Panthers were on fire. They were able to hold the bears off even without Foster for some of the game. I can’t wait til the next games. 24 was awesome. I can’t wait to watch the other 2 hours tonight. I have to work til 8 tonight so I’ll be watching it on a 45 minute delay. I’ve forbid Justin to watch it until I get there. It should be good.
End of the Beginning
I sure hope I’m not doing something totally illegal by displaying the lyrics to a song on here (someone tell me if I need to add any documentation to it to make it right). I just heard this song on WMIT 106.9 this morning on the way to work. I didn’t post the whole song for a reason. I thought the second verse was really cool. I know a lot of the world today is in the same boat as this guy who doesn’t believe.
Let me know what you think.
End of the Beginning by David Phelps
“Thats not a new book thats a bible,” he said, “and I’ve heard it all before.
I’ve tried religion- its shame and guilt and I dont need it anymore.
It’s superstition, made up tales and just to help the weak to survive.”
“Let me read it again,” I said, “listen closely, cuz this is gonna change your life.
(Chorus)
“The end of the beginning,” he said with a smile.
“What more could there be? He’s dead.
You said they hung him, put nails in His hands
and a crown of thorns on His head.”
I said, “I’ll read it again but this time there’s more,
and I believe that this is true.
His death wasn’t the end, the beginning of life
that’s completed in you.
Don’t you see he did all this for you!”
(Chorus)
He was born of a virgin one holy night
in the little town of Bethlehem
All the angles singing praises to the great I AM
He walked on the water, healed the lame,
and made the blind to see(eee)
(and for the first time here on earth)
Did you know that God could be a friend.
Tho He never ever did a single thing wrong,
He was the one the crowd chose.
then he walked and he died but
three days later (3x) HE ROSE!!!!!!!!
Three days later he rose!
You see he came, he lived, and he died.
But that was the end of the beginning.
Special Church Guest
This past Sunday Crestview had a very special church guest. It was a puppy (or very small dog). When Justin and I arrived at church we saw this tiny dog walking in the parking lot. When the pastor’s granddaughter arrived she just had to catch the dog and help it. Not wanting her to go outside and get hurt I followed her in the church. We finally found the dog sitting at one of the doors shivering. Against my better judgement I listened to the girl’s pleas and picked the dog up (luckily it wasn’t too dirty). She went and got her mom who is a nurse and the poor dog was all bones and cold and scared. They fed it a donut for lack of anything else to feed it. It ate that thing like there was no tomorrow. Then another church member saw it and went home for some dog food. Another member got a towel from her car to wrap it in. Many others gathered as well trying to figure out what to do to help the poor dog. I ended up holding the dog through Sunday School while they awaited someone to call to possibly take the dog. Finally the dog calmed down during Sunday School and fell asleep in my lap. Then I had to turn her over to another member so I could scrub up and take my jacket off and help in the nursery. By the time I was done someone had taken it home with them. I was so happy that the dog would no longer be out in the cold.
Since I was in the nursery I wasn’t able to attend the service but Justin said that Pastor Stan used the dog as an example for the kids during Children’s time explaining to them that, as we, the church worked together to help the dog, God wants us all to work together as a team to help others. I thought it was a really awesome day at church and a really good lesson learned.
Sad
Justin and I were out eating the other day and we saw that one of the girls that was clearing off tables had a dollar sticking out of her back pocket. Before we could tell her, it apparently had fallen on the ground and a customer diagonally behind me picked it up. She and the guy she was with were bickering about whether or not to keep it and in the end she decided to keep it. Then Justin couldn’t help but notice a friend of hers walking up to talk to her with a shirt that said “Jesus” on the front. I must say that it was quite ironic/funny. I just think it’s so sad how the world is today. It was just $1.00 and this lady didn’t feel the need to give it back to its rightful owner. I don’t know how she can sleep at night doing things like that. I guess that is the worst part of all. God tells us not to steal. He wants us to be honest and loving and to treat others as we would wish to be treated. I just really pray that woman will change her ways.
Finally a Saturday
This morning Justin and I had planned to sleep a little bit later than we do during the week. This was the first Saturday we’ve really had a chance to in a long time. What do you know at 7:12am we were awakened by the sounds of Java whining to go out. We tried to ignore it for awhile in hopes that Java would give up and lay back down. Well that didn’t happen so I turned on my side of our new heated mattress pad and got up to take Java out. Once she did her business, I decided to try to put her back in her cage because she used to do that on weekends awhile back and would go back to sleep for an hour. Of course that didn’t happen. She continued to whine and wimper. Then on top of that, the boys were having gym class across our headboard and on the windowsill. Justin got up and let Java out of her cage but shut our bedroom door. It seemed to work for awhile but then the boys decided they wanted to break into Justin’s dresser drawers to throw his clothes on the floor. Then they went to the door and tried scratching at the door to get it open. Needless to say, we both finally gave up and got out of bed.
On another note, Congratulations to Heather and her Redskins tonight. Even though it wasn’t a good offensive game for them, they still pulled a 17-10 win over the Buccaneers. The Tarheels won over NC State this afternoon too. We didn’t get to watch much of it though. Now we are watching the Jacksonville/New England game. I’m so excited for the Carolina/NY game tomorrow. It should be a good one.
Starting Monday I have to work two weeks of 8:30am-8:00pm at the Bookstore. We get out at 4:30pm on Fridays but still, it’s going to be a long few weeks. I’m not looking forward to it. We’ve already lost our GA (she graduated in December) and we hardly have any help (surprise surprise). Wish me luck and I apologize if I disappear again during these two weeks. Who knows, maybe I’ll actually have some more time to blog at work after things slow down after 6:30ish.
Have a great week everyone.
