Work

discouraged

i’m not sure if it’s just because it is the end of a very long week or maybe even the rainy weather but i just haven’t been in the best of moods today at work. we got 98 cartons of books this morning on a yellow delivery. the work study students have been whining and complaining that there is never anything to do. so i guess this is where my confusion comes in…there are 98 cartons of books waiting to be checked in…yet every one of the students stays up at the counter and jokes around not even offering to help me. i dont mind doing things like this on my own i just dont like being fussed at in periods of down time and then when there is a chance to do something no one does anything to help! well…i better get back to work. i have about 49 more boxes to check in.

I hope everyone has a very good weekend! my mommy and kelly are coming to see me saturday morning 🙂

funny

today has just been one of those days! it all started off with the wonderful sound of a lawn mower…oh wait that was my hair dryer this morning! hehe i turned it off right away and then that smell….oh that wonderful burning smell that we all love! so i had to throw my hair up and head to work with wet hair on a 30 degree morning. always fun! hehe

once at work i was great (laughing all the way at myself), then i started dropping things and running into things and just being silly. i think the phrase “when it rains it pours” will fit perfectly in my description of the day. all in all it’s still managed to be a good and quite productive day despite the review from matt’s blog hehe

inventory!

inventory has begun here at the campus shop. i’ve had my spreadsheets ready for the last month so when my boss gave me the “ok” to begin inventory i was ready to go. luckily i had some work study students here to help out with counting. in approximately 3 or 4 hours the book inventory was all counted. all i had to do was enter it in the spreadsheets. so now i’m pretty much all done and i can’t help but have this feeling that my boss really isn’t ready and i’ll have to do it all again in a few days. i really hope i’m wrong because that’s just wrong to tell me something and not mean it. that would be a complete waste of my time when i’ve got summer adoptions to finish entering and very soon fall’s as well. i think i’m just tired of spreadsheets. i want to get it overwith so i can move on towards summer stuff. let’s hope i’m wrong

finally!

this past week we received new fed ex software for our shipping. we also got our “new” shipping computer. somehow it got handed down to me to complete the task of installing the new software on the new computer. that really shouldn’t be that hard, right? i mean…click next a few times and then finish…or so i thought! what started out as a simple task turned into a 3 day long drama. i was able to install the program without much of a problem, but when it came to printing the end of day reports, they would only print out on our label printer instead of the laser printer. once again, i thought it wouldn’t be too hard to go to printer setup and set the report printer as the laser printer…wrong again… justin even stopped by and played with it. he was short on time due to church on wednesday so he didn’t get to finish. i spoke vial aol with matt and greg who helped as much as they could without actually being here. finally, i decided to call tech support at fed ex. i spoke with an enthusiastic woman (sense the sarcasm) about the problem and thought i had enough info to fix it. once again…it didn’t work. at that point i was ready to throw the thing on the floor and stomp on it. i decided to give it one more shot and be done with it. i called tech support again and spoke with someone different. even he was stumped and had me on hold for 5 minutes. then they decided to approach it from a different way and somehow it finally worked!!! i never thought the printer sounded so good! hopefully now i’ll be totally done and all will be well! thanks for letting me vent

BOREDOM!

I know i shouldn’t complain, but for the past week and a half things have been sooooo slow here at work. things will quickly change and become busy around spring break time. for some reason all faculty get the whole week off while staff just get one day. i’m nervous because this will be my first time doing summer/fall orders. i came in may of last year as the textbook manager and summer was already ordered and on the shelves. this is definitely the hardest ordering time of the year. there will be twice as many boxes as in spring and only 2 given people to unload the trucks seeing as students will be home for the summer. i know i will miss this down time then, but i’m a person who likes to stay busy, especially while at work so time actually tries to go somewhere.

i am excited to hear about this recent possibility of snow expected to arrive in the area around 3am. if i wake up and hear rain i will definitely be disappointed. it would be nice to be able to go out and play in the snow just once this year.

for those of you who are bored like me, and need something to do, try reading matt’s blog
he is crazy 😉

ok ….i must find something else to occupy the last 2.5 hours here

cross-eyed

i’ve been working on an inventory spreadsheet of all the books we have in the bookstore. so far i’m on line 258 (mostly done yesterday). it’s really a pain…cuz every semester i have to create a brand new spreadsheet i.e. (<--for you matt) start from scratch typing in each book title, isbn, author, and price. I can't even use the previous semester's spreadsheet because the books are pretty much totally different. so there isn't an easy way out of it. the bad thing is...i really shouldn't have to do this because i have a computer program (courseworks) that will create a list with all the necessary information on it, but because the big wigs over in webb like spreadsheets, i have to go through all this trouble. it's ok for now because it's been slow around here but next week we start returns. and making sure pricing is right for the inventory is going to be quite a headache since there are at least 3 different prices on the books. i guess it's eeny meeny miny moe 😉 have a great day!

finally!

yesterday we FINALLY got a new printer at work. A laser printer at that 🙂 It’s a cute lil bugger. Mandy went and got it at office max. when we started to hook it up we realized it didn’t come with a usb cable (thanks justin hehe) so i went back to office max and picked one up. when we finally got the printer installed on jillian’s computer, we had the wonderful task of sharing it with all of our computers (why all 4 of us have to share 1 printer i’ll never know). maxine and i kept trying and trying to install and share it on our computers and were unsuccessful. i was going to give up but when a certain someone said they figured i couldn’t do it….then i was not going to leave til i did hehe…and BAM! i figured it out 🙂 well gotta go…today i get to spend lots of money ordering books 🙂

frustrated

ok so weeks ago wayne and i sat down and planned out a date for book inventory. it was later than i really wanted it to be but i decided to get over it. that date was supposed to be on monday this week. I had everything counted and ready. then wayne was no where to be found on monday. so i thought…ok tuesday….guess not..then he told me wednesday or thursday and actually said “you know i’m pushing you off right?” so me being in the “wonderful” mood i’ve been in lately just sucked it up. now, this morning (thursday) he tells me it wont be til next week! This will mean that i’ve counted the blasted books 4 times! and will have to again next week. why do i always have to be pushed off for last? this puts me sooo far behind with spring books. oh well i guess i better go shake it off.
